    Gunther Schmitz (Director)

    Gunther Schmitz is a qualified mechanical engineer who started his degree at Stellenbosch University and graduated in Germany. He has spent thirteen years working in the German motor industry, most significantly as the head of the Product and Service Quality Unit at DEKRA Consulting, a subsidiary of the German-based technology, safety and environmental firm DEKRA AG. In this role, he spent seven years consulting major manufacturers such as BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Nissan and Kia. His primary areas of focus were testing and improving the quality of their repairs, car services and systems.

    Keith van der Merwe (Branch Manager - Strand)

    Keith joins the AutoWORKS team with a wealth of experience spanning 28 years. Besides being a technician, he is also a qualified Automotive Engineer which greatly enhances his ability to diagnose mechanical problems. Keith has been trained with Nissan Diesel and spent 18 years with VW and Audi, where his last position was Audi Service Manager at Barloworld. Thereafter he successfully started and managed his own automotive service company. He is passionate about his customers and colleagues and understands their importance to and within the company.

  • Matthew Kempster Davies (Branch Manager - Observatory)

    Matthew Kempster Davies (Branch Manager - Observatory)

    Matthew joins the autoWORKS team with 15 years experience. Matthew started his career at a Ford and Mazda Dealership. He gained further experience working as a BMW specialist and on VW in Europe before becoming the Service Manager of Citroen in Cape Town. He was trained extensively by Citroen, Ford and Mazda on diagnostics, repairs as well as customer and workshop management. Matthew is passionate about imported vehicles like Citroen as well as locally produced German and Japanese cars.
